Atzavara Hotel and Spa

This project originated through a close collaboration with the architectural firm responsible for the hotel’s overall planning. Building on their proposal, we developed the interior design concept to bring material coherence and a strong narrative thread to the whole. With over 500 rooms and 45,000 m², the hotel integrates common areas, restaurants, a bar, and wellness. It also features multipurpose rooms, conference rooms, an outdoor beach bar, and extensive landscaped gardens facing the sea. The interior transit route responds to a brief inspired by the ‘Camí de Ronda’, the traditional coastal path along the Catalan coastline. Each space evokes scenes from the Mediterranean imagination: the beach, the market, the summer festival, the sea, and the fishermen.
The central atrium forms the heart of the building and serves as the stage for the artistic intervention. Ramón de los Heros presents suspended sculptures of swimmers in motion, imbued with a poetic lightness. His work communes with the architecture, creating a dialogue between space, art, and the visitor’s sensory experience. The installation transforms the central void into a place of contemplation, surprise, and cultural encounter. The swimmers appear to float in mid-air, generating a visual effect that balances dynamism with serenity. The atrium becomes a metaphor for the sea—its depth and constant movement—forming an essential part of the architectural narrative. This gesture turns the hotel into a unique space where art and life intertwine.
The interior design employs materials native to the area, latticework, and carefully selected furniture to reinforce its identity. Its holiday-inspired aesthetic, rooted in the Mediterranean, evokes the local environment through a contemporary and unpretentious lens. The colour palette blends warm, earth tones with a refined yet understated formal language. Our work shapes and unifies an imaginative world that immerses guests in an authentic experience. Each environment feels both solid and inviting, strengthening the connection to its surroundings.
The whole ensemble conveys a vision of a contemporary hotel that balances monumental scale with intimate, human details. Every design decision aims for guests to recognise an echo of the territory within the space. The sensory narrative, inspired by the coast, translates into lasting experiences. The interior design guides visitors through shifting atmospheres connected to the sea and Mediterranean life. The art work in the atrium, natural materials, and light construct a coherent and evocative language. Everything is orchestrated along a route designed to move, surprise, and forge genuine connection. The result is a hotel that dialogues with its context without forsaking the contemporary—where architecture and interior design merge into a complete and authentic experience.
